What is NEET Exam?
NEET or the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is a medical entrance exam for students who have passed their Class 12th Board Examinations. It has been introduced by the Medical Council of India and the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD); Govt of India in 2013.
The conducting body of NEET is the National Testing Agency. It is conducted in the following languages: Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Maratha, Oriya, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu.
Purpose
The purpose behind its introduction is to streamline the process of admission in the medical and dental courses. It is now mandatory to clear NEET to get a seat in a medical or dental institutes in India.
Benefits
Initially the students had to prepare for a variety of entrance exams which were conducted by the state or the central universities. These exams varied in the exam pattern and the syllabus. Thus it was very cumbersome for the students to prepare for multiple entrance exams. Also it causes financial burden for the students while filling the multiple application forms, for multiple universities. Also NEET is conducted in 11 regional languages, which is an add-on.
Now a total of 43,700 MBBS Seats and 24800 Dental Seats are available for the students, under the NEET.

Pattern
The exam is conducted offline. There are a total of 720 marks divided into 4 sections. The 4 sections are Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Zoology. There are 45 questions asked from each section, where for the right answer the aspirant will be awarded 4 marks and for every wrong answer 1 mark will be deducted.
It is a single stage exam of 3 hours.
There are no limited attempts for NEET.
