NEET 2019 – Everything You Need to Know

National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) is a national level entrance examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses in India in Medical/Dental Colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India except for the institutions established through an Act of Parliament i.e. AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry.
A candidate can apply for the NEET only ONLINE by logging on to www.cbseneet.nic.in Download the Information Bulletin. Read it carefully to understand eligibility criteria and other requirements for submission of online application. Read the instructions and procedure for online submission of NEET Application Form carefully.

Step 1

Fill in the on-line application form.
Note down the registration number.

Step 2

Upload images of photograph and signature in JPEG format.
Photograph – Size of 10 Kb to 100 Kb
Signature – Size of 3 Kb to 20 Kb

Make payment of fee as per available options.

Minimum & Maximum Age
  • A student must have completed an age of 17 years at the time of admission under NEET eligibility or should complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year MBBS/BDS Course.
  • The upper age limit for NEET is 25 years as on the date of examination under NEET eligibility with relaxation of 5 years for candidates belonging to OBC/SC/ST category. 
The following students are allowed to appear in NEET 2019:

  • Indian Nationals
  • Non Resident Indians (NRIs)
  • Oversees Citizen of India (OCIs)
  • Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs)
  • Foreign Nationals
Academic Qualification
There are 7 eligibility codes in total. A student is required to select any 1 of them. Different codes are for different situations. Before applying for NEET exam, read all 7 codes properly.
Many websites have just simply copy-pasted the entire section already there in the Information Bulletin of NEET. So many students get confused as to which category they fall into. Let’s make it as simple as possible for aspirants for NEET 2019.

  • One paper in all languages – English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Oriya, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu

  • 180 objective type questions (4 options with 1 correct answer)

Candidates are required to download the admit cards from the website and follow the instructions given. Candidate may please note that admit cards will not be sent by post. When a candidate downloads the NEET Admit Card 2019, a copy of the same in pdf format is also emailed to the candidate on the registered email id. The candidate should carefully examine the Admit Card downloaded by him/her.
Admit Card bears the following information of a candidate:

  • Date of Birth,
  • Language of Question Paper
  • Name and Address of examination centre allotted.
CBSE will prepare an All India Merit List of successful candidates of NEET (UG) – 2019 on the basis of the eligibility criteria provided by the Medical Council of India and Dental Council of India. The eligibility criteria are as follows:
In order to be eligible for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses for a particular academic year, a candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology and English individually and must have obtained:

The percentile shall be determined on the basis of highest marks secured in the All India common merit list in National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test for admission to MBBS/BDS courses.

  • NEET 2018 declared on June 4, 2018.

  • Number of candidates appeared – 13,26,725
  • Number of candidates qualified – 7,14,562
  • Kalpana Kumari from Bihar has emerged as the All India Topper in the NEET 2018, scoring 691 marks out of 720 in the exam
Points to Remember
  • CBSE will conduct the NEET (UG)–2019, evaluate the Answer Sheets and the result will be hosted on website cbseneet.nic.in.
  • The CBSE will prepare the merit list as per the directives of, DGHS, MCI and DCI.
  • No category wise result sheet will be prepared. As soon as the result is ready, CBSE will host the results on the website and thereafter candidates may download the Result Sheets.
  • All Candidates appearing in NEET (UG)–2019 must remain in touch with the websites of CBSE, MOHFW, Medical Counselling Committee (www.mcc.nic.in) and Participating States/Universities/ Institutions till conclusion of final round of Counselling.
