
LAW ENTRANCE EXAM AFTER GRADUATION:
After graduation in India, various national & state level law entrance exams are organized for admission in undergraduate & postgraduate programmes. Candidates may go for either BA LLB, BBA LLB, B.Sc LLB, after 12th standard examination or 3 year LLB or LLM course after graduation in any stream. After medical & engineering, the most prominent course is LLB. Any candidate thinking about LLB should know that there are many colleges/institutions which offer admission on the basis of entrance exams. There are national level, state level and university level entrance exams.
National Level Entrance Exam :
There are different types of national level entrance exams such as CLAT, AILET, AIBE, LSAT. The entrance exams in a detailed manner are as follows.
CLAT 2021 :
CLAT is conducted by the Consortium of the National Law Universities of India. The CLAT entrance exam is conducted on an annual basis for admission to the various UG and PG level courses offered by different law universities in the country. The interested candidates need to fill up the application form within the time frame to sit on this exam. Aspirants are required to first ensure that they meet the prescribed CLAT eligibility criteria. Failing to comply with CLAT Eligibility Criteria at any stage of the selection process will lead to cancellation of candidature. CLAT 2021 Eligibility Criteria for Undergraduate (UG) courses (LLB):
CLAT Age limit: As per the revised rules, there is no age limit for UG courses, thus candidates of any age group can sit for CLAT.
CLAT Academic qualification:
- Qualifying examination: Candidates must have qualified Higher Secondary School/Intermediate or equivalent examination from 10+2 education system from a recognized board.
- Minimum marks required: Candidates have to score a minimum of 45% in their senior secondary examination to be eligible for CLAT 2021. In case of SC/ST candidates minimum eligibility marks are 40% of their 10+2 examination.
- Appearing candidates: Candidates appearing for their Class 12th board examinations are also eligible to apply for CLAT 2020 exam. However, such candidates need to produce the proof of passing Class 12th or equivalent exam at the time of admission. Candidates unable to produce the evidence shall forfeit their right of admission through CLAT 2021 exam.
CLAT 2021 Eligibility Criteria for Postgraduate (PG) courses (LLM):
CLAT Age limit: As per the revised rules, there is no age limit for PG courses, thus candidates of any age group can sit for CLAT 2021 for PG courses after successful completion of graduation.
CLAT Academic qualification:
- Qualifying examination: Candidates applying for admission to the LLM program need to hold a valid bachelor’s degree in law or any equivalent exam. Both five-year integrated and three-year law degrees are accepted.
- Minimum marks required: Candidates have to score a minimum of 55% in their qualifying degree. In case of SC/ST candidates, they need to score a minimum of
50% in their qualifying degree
- Appearing candidates: Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in March/April 2021 are also eligible to appear in the exam. However, they have to show a hard copy of the proof of their passing the qualifying examination in the respective National Law Universities at the time of admission.
CLAT 2021 Eligibility Criteria for NRI: NRI candidates can also apply for admission in any national law university of India by directly approaching the university. The Candidates must contact the concerned university directly for admission formalities, eligibility, documents required and other related queries for seeking admission under NRI/NRI sponsored category.

AIBE 2021:
AIBE is conducted by the Bar Council of India to assess whether provisionally enrolled advocates or fresh law graduates have the aptitude to practice law. The exam is an open book test and evaluates candidates analytical abilities along with a basic understanding of law subjects.
