HOW TO ACE CBSE BOARDS
The corona pandemic has added to the exam woes of the students preparing to appear for their CBSE Board Examinations. It was due to the pandemic and absence of classroom teaching, shifting to an online medium for education has added to the stress of the students. In this situation the decision to reduce the syllabus would definitely come as a relief to the already stressed examinees. But the problem may materialize in ways like unclear grasp of the concepts taught. This article tries to address this issue and let the examinees try to reduce the stress by adopting a strategy to cope.
1) Sticking to the reduced syllabus will be beneficial:
The reduced syllabi which comes as a boon in much needed times will be impactful only if the students understand the topics covered and stick to the reduced syllabus. 2) Fast Learning strategies need to be adopted:

Hence, students should try to employ techniques like mnemonics, which will help them to memorize words and acronyms very easily, For learning complicated processes, methods like Mind Mapping can be used. Mind Maps can be used to represent processes in a graphical format through flowcharts, clouds , lines. They are usually very colorful and easy to remember. These methods help students to revise chapters at a fast pace which will allow them to gain confidence.
3) Gaining Acquaintance with the Important topics:
Going through the entire chapter is a time consuming and sometimes unproductive process. What may be a better way to approach this is to mark the important topics that one needs to revise at the end of each chapter. To understand which topics are important , students simply need to get a hold of previous years question papers which are very easily available both online and in compiled form. Also going through the Conceptual Questions and problems mentioned at the end of the Chapters in the Textbooks will give a great view about the important topics and what kind of questions one can expect.
4) Practicing, Practicing and Looking out for common errors:
Lack of practice is an important reason for students not performing up to the mark. Even though they have gone through the topics and the syllabus there may be errors both grammatical and content related which can be avoided through adequate practice. Only through practice can the students become aware of such errors and overcome them. It is advisable to set aside some time everyday for practicing problems or writing answers to the previous years questions to gauge the level of understanding and correctness. Awareness of past mistakes made by the students will allow them to perform better in the upcoming board exams. Another important method could be to go through the compiled documents of answers provided by previous toppers to understand the structure and requirement of any question.
5) Time Scheduling:
Scheduling will help the students to prepare in a much more efficient manner. Study time needs to be divided according to subjects with separate times for revision, practice and mock tests. Keeping track of time is essential as it will reinforce the need to keep track of time during the main exam itself.
6) Mock Tests:
Sitting for Mocks with previous years question papers will help in building confidence and this will be beneficial for the D-Day. WHile going through the Mock paper students will come across concepts that they are unclear about and can take necessary measures to get a grasp on them. Taking the mocks within a time limit will also make sure that their minds do not get distracted and this is great practice for the exam day.
