Pilot
Pilot
Summary

The Pilot is one of the most respected careers. This is not a common job and it is not easy to
be a pilot. But when anybody pursues this career, he gets all the rewards of being a pilot.
The pilot is a most exciting job and full of thrill. It is one of the rewarding career options.
So, who is a pilot? For normal people, the pilot is just like a driver but instead of cars he
drives a plane. But here everybody had to understand that driving a car is very different
from flying a plane. Car is a very simple and small machine as compared to the Aeroplan. On
the other hand, Aeroplan is very huge and complex machinery. To handle this machinery is
not easy. Therefore, to maintain this machinery aviation branch is created. Under this
aviation branch, all the segments of the Aeroplan are studied and operated. The pilot is one
of the segments under aviation. This is a very big responsibility. As a driver of an Aeroplan,
the pilot has the responsibility for the safety of all the passengers as well as the cargoes
apart from these he has the responsibility of the Aeroplan itself, which is complex and costly
machinery.
The basic work of the pilot is to fly Aeroplan, military aircraft, civil aircraft, bombers, private
planes, jets, Commercial aircraft, cargo planes, etc. Apart from flying he has the other
responsibilities as mentioned above. Flying an aircraft is itself a complex task. Before take-
off, he has to study all the parameters that are important for the aircraft flight. Parameters
such as weather conditions, aircraft fuel, and air, etc. The aircraft’s condition is checked. The
capacity of the cargoes is also checked before taking off. Before take-off, all navigation
routes are decided beforehand and are fixed. When they fly the Airplane they need to check
with all the air traffic control.
Workplace of Pilot?
When anybody becomes a pilot then they have a variety of options for their career. He can
join government organizations that are related to the aviation department. If anybody is not
interested in joining the government aviation department then he can join the private
organization. Both government and private organizations are good for the pilot job. Each
sector has its advantages and disadvantages. Another option is that they can work
individually as a pilot instead of joining an organization. These individual pilots are hired by
businessmen, celebrities, politicians, etc. A pilot is the only segment under aviation that
allows you to work in the military sector. If you had dreamt of working in the military
department then the pilot is the correct field for you. The pilot field allows you to work with
the military department, especially the air force department.
Now, the question comes about the salary. How much does a pilot earn? A fresher pilot with
proper knowledge earns about 1.5 lakhs per annum. But this is the figure for the fresher
pilot. But if a pilot is an experienced pilot, then he will earn about 5 to 6 lakhs per annum. If
you work in the military department i.e., with the Indian Army, Indian Air Force then a pilot
will get 5 to 8 lakhs per annum. There are various criteria to measure the experience of the
pilot. According to the standards, 750 hours is set as a criterion for the experienced pilot. If
a pilot has experience of 750 hours, then he is considered a commercial pilot.
What are the working hours of the pilot? The working hours of the pilot are not fixed. They
can have shifts in the morning as well as night. Their shifts are not fixed. A pilot can work for
40 hours a week. But this number is very rare. The actual figure is different from this.
Usually, they work 85 to 100 hours per week.
Career Opportunities in Pilot
Here students have to understand that the study phase of a career is very different from the
job phase of that career. Because the practical job is very different from what you study.
Studying that subject will give you only theoretical knowledge but, in the field, you have to
apply the knowledge which you have gathered but the situations will not be ideal.
Therefore, practical jobs are very tough as conditions are real and not ideal. So, you have to
compromise with your situation and need to apply your learnings. So, in this section, we will
see the actual job prospects that aerospace engineers will have.
How to Pursue a Career in Pilot
Stream | Graduation | After Graduation | After Post Graduation | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Path 1 | Qualifying Class 12th with the Science Specialization (Science Specialization is recommended for this field) | Student had to be a certified pilot So they had to do certificate program for 24 months (Pilot license for student, Pilot license for private plane, Pilot license for commercial plane) | ||
Path 2 | Qualifying Class 12th with the Science Specialization (Science Specialization is recommended for this field) | Student have to do B.Sc. in aviation (Which is of three-Year Duration) | Student had to be a certified pilot So they had to do certificate program for 24 months (Pilot license for student, Pilot license for private plane, Pilot license for commercial plane) |
If you are passionate about being a pilot then you can start your study after your 12th grade. After passing your 12th-grade student gets two opportunities. Either Students can be a certified pilot by taking a certificate program for 24 months or they can opt for B.Sc. in aviation and after that, they can do a certificate program for 24 months.
The student had to be a certified pilot if they wanted to enter this industry as a pilot. So they had to do a certificate program for 24 months. These certificate programs train the student regarding the flying of the aircraft. There are various certifications available. Certifications such as a Pilot license for students, a pilot license for a private plane, a Pilot license for the commercial plane, etc.
The student can opt for one career option out of the two. Here students don’t have the option to do post-graduation. As this course is for learning about the handling of the aircraft. Therefore, no option is available for post graduation. So, based on their career preference students can opt for any career option. Here students have to understand that each course has its importance. Don’t compare those two options based on the course duration. It is not like that if you opt for the second option then it doesn’t mean that you had wasted your three years. Each course has its importance. Courses should be compared based on the quality of education not based on the duration.
